They have to be kidding...
Amber Alert consortium to sponsor IRL race
The system, ... will have its name on an Indy Racing League race at Kentucky Speedway in August, track officials said Thursday.
The Amber Alert Indy 300 will be sponsored by the Amber Alert Portal Consortium, a public-private partnership that provides states new technology that expands the alert system to make it more effective.

Damn.....One liner of the month right here folks!
The amber alert is a great thing, and its good to spread the word........but not this way. Thats alot of useful money going to waste. You could buy time on the radio much cheaper and run it every hour for a month.........Or so it would seem./

"Oh! It gets even better:"
NASCAR is playing a role in unveiling an enhanced Amber Alert system in Kentucky.
On August 14th, the Kentucky Speedway will host the Amber Alert Indy 300, which was known as the Belterra Casino 300 last year.
Perhaps they know something we don't. Perhaps unification talks have been going on, but CCWS wasn't invited.

Great call nrc! :)
Talk about idiotic! This has GOT to be the stupidest thing these cornpicking retards have EVER done.
You don't have to be Jerry-effin'-Dellafemina to know that as a lifestyle/entertainment "brand", you AVOID associations with unpleasant social realitites in relation to your product, overt OR subliminal. These morons, however, are intentionally putting their "league" and the vile, terrifying spectre of child abduction together on the marquee; conjuring up the MOST repulsive, unsettling and UGLY images possible, at the same time they're expecting you - the gringo consumer - to be taking in the spectacle of Wheldon's faux-hawk.
Important causes as they no doubt are, you'll never see ads for the "Abused Women" US Open, or the "Drunk Driving" Masters tournament. EVER! Even local dry cleaners that advertise in the pennysaver know better.
Let's let them destroy themselves, these hicks are too dumb to climb out of their red-state backwater.....

Amber Alert was named for an abducted child named Amber who unfortunately lost her life. The Amber Alert system was developed in her name, and whenever a child is abducted, it broadcasts on all radio stationsi n the surrounding areas (often surrounding states as well), also they have signs over the interstats that show the missing persons name and descrip, a descrip of the abductor, and descrip/plate number of the abductors car. It has been very effective since its inception. But as said about, you never see "The Child Abuse 400".....wich is essentially what this is saying. There are better ways to spread the word about this service, and basically, when an amber alert goes out, You cant miss it. They run it on the radio every 30 minutes for the whole day.............

I hope everyone realizes that the Amber Alert Foundation does not have cubic money to slap dowm on race sponsorships. When they say undisclosed sum, picture a $1 bill changing hands. This is a charity sponsorship, because they think it looks better than the Your Name Goes Here 300. Didn't the :gomer:RL have the McGruff - Take a bite out of crime car, or the Just Say No To Drugs racing team, or something similar a few years ago.

The brain trust over at gomerville were all up in arms over the involvement of The Canary Fund in the San Jose Grand Prix. Wonder what their reaction to this one is?

I didn't realize amber was a hazzard requiring an alert. What kind of amber are we being alerted for? Can we expect an "elevated" alert at some point? Amber can be pretty hard and I would hate to get smacked by a chunk. Does anyone have a link explaining why amber is now considered a danger? I hope I find some with prehistoric bugs in it. That would be cool.
