I think Honda owes Tango & Cash some royalties. :p

There's one parked down the street from me. Every time I pass it I almost vomit. It's that ugly.
 Yeechh!! That ain't no truck pardners, no sirree. Here in Merica we like em big, bold 'n boxy. We can tolerate tham aero lookin front ends but don't mess with the beds I tell ya's. We like em with Big V8's, 10's, hemi's or a diesel.
Get 'r done. :gomer:

The Japanese have not had an original idea since the mini-truck.
That thing is just an uglier Avalanche.

No way.
The Ridgeline makes the Element look like a work of art. The Element's actually grown on me. Small exterior, gigantic interior, easy clean-up, and an easily accessible back seat with more then enough legroom for adult-sized adults.
The Ridgeline sports possibly the worst styling since the Asstek or the Scion XB. The Odyssey is a beauty queen compared to that p.o.s.
Saw one. I think it'll sell. Lots of urban yuppies who want to feel like a cowboy but want 4 seats and a trunk.

Funny that the Odyssey can fit a 4'x8' sheet, but the pickup can't.

Sorry Chop, but you are wrong on that one....
There is 49.5 inches between the slimmest point in the rear bed. Specifically designed to handle the "4X8" sheet of plywood, that EVERYONE seems to want to bring home from the DIY store.... The Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma cannot handle a sheet of 4X8 laying FLAT like the Honda can.
(for those of you out there in oc-land... when was the last time you ACTUALLY brought home a sheet of plywood, sheetrock, or anything else that was 4X8 ??? )
Now, on the other hand, the Ridgeline's truck bed is only 5 feet long, but it extends to 6.5ft with the tailgate down.... which doesnt make it a "real" truck, but it does have the industry's first "In Bed Storage Trunk", which is lockable, and has 8.5 cu ft of storage....
Honda aint trying to compete with the Big 3, or Toyota, or Nissan in the full sized truck market.... they are just trying to satisfy their dealers with a mid-sized truck, which sells 50,000 - 70,000 per year, and keeps the Honda buyers coming back to the dealerships for a different kind of vehicle. They have the plant capacity to build it right along side the Pilot \ MDX and the styling cues will find their way into the '06 Pilot, which is due for a mid-model refreshening, coming out in late August.
I'm driving one now.... never thought I'd like a pseudo- truck thing, but it rides great, handles just fine with the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), which I "activate" as often as possible, and it has some decent power (255HP). It gets really crappy MPG, about 18-19, and costs $52 to fully tank up here in SoCal. Would I own one ? prolly not..... my version with Navi \ Sunroof \ Leather \ XM radio is about $34,500 and there are NO DEALS on 'em right now since the dealerships are happy making full sticker on most of them. Do I enjoy driving it ?? yeah, alot more than I thought I would.
Dont kid yourselves fellas, this is a truck for a guy who drives to work 5 days a week, and does some outdoors type stuff on the weekends, and doesnt want to have the shake, rattle and roll of a traditional "cab\ bed", ladder frame set-up... not intended to be a truck for the construction\ builder guy. Its selling quite well, and YES, the styling is subject to alot of criticism, but I have had plenty of men and women pull along side and take a long look at it when I'm driving. And plenty of people approach me at the gas pump, and ask questions about it....
Just my two cents. ;)

Winston -
An 8-foot sheet "fits" in a 6.5' bed? ;)
I know that the Eurovan and Odyssey will bith fit them with the doors shut and without taking the seats out. I just have a hard time understanding the fit of this truck. They intentionally made a niche vehicle with a lot of seemingly useless features. The most irksome is that it's horrid-looking and just encourages people that don't need a truck to buy one anyway.
Whatever. Different strokes.

Granted, I dont do that every weekend, but I know that a stack of 4X8 plywood or drywall is the max of my home-improvement size needs, and if my vehicle cant handle that, I might as well have a hatchback.
For the record, I dont own a single truck, but own two cars that can handle the 4X8 with ease.....one with the gate closed. One is my '66 merc wagon, the other my 96 buick wagon. If it cant hold a 4X8, then its a pseudo wagon.

That car sure has an ugly trunk.
Here's my plan for driving enjoyment and hauling plywood on $34,000.
$30,000 RX8
$4,000 used F150
Wait. Strike the truck. Instead put a few more options on the Mazda and I'll still have enough money left over to rent a UHaul every fricken weekend for a year.

Just saw an escalade pick up. Similair, with a little extra pimping.
I believe that was the Brat:
At least the Brat was cute. The seats in the bed were there to avoid truck import tariffs. Dodge tried an Omni 024 based pickup back in the '80s.

I guess every generation has to give the El Camino concept a try.
I saw it when I got my car repaired. It's butt ugly. :vomit:

Yuck.
VW had it's yuck truck too. Based on a Rabbit. I knew a guy who had one, it actually had trouble going up hills (empty bed at that!).

$30,000 RX8
$4,000 used F150 Yep, lots of way to part the feline from it's fur without buying one of those sad looking contraptions. The occasional use older truck is a good investment for a lot of folks, especially in areas like ours where they don't use salt on the roads. I had a real straight '63 Dodge w/ a full length bed that I had for years, and the guy I sold it to still drives it.
I like our AWD sports wagon for most of the things a person would put in the back of a Ridgeline and it gets better mileage, looks better and is a lot more fun to drive if you're going farther than across town. IMO It also works better than a minivan or SUV as well having owned all three.

Beat me to the punch! I actually though tha person was referring to the baja until someone posted the brat! What an awful name for a vehicle.
For what its worth, I always thought the Rampage looked really good in black and silver.......
Also, the Shelby version was kinda cool:

and , dig this dudes rendering of a neon-based sport-truck! Like we need more neons around!

As the police chief from Miller's Crossing said, I know I don't know nuthin', but... I think that Neon based deal is pretty cool.
I'm just not into sedans so much. I've always liked pickups, wagons and unique/odd looking GT's.
I've always said that if Honda built a full-sized pickup & I was in the market, I'd buy one. I guess I'll keep waiting and enjoy my Tundra.
