of revenue service. United's 777 flew from London's Heathrow to Washington Dulles 10 years ago yesterday. Here is a pic of that same bird today:

I enjoy flying on the 777. I can watch the computer control the wing parts during level flight for hours at a time!

One thing I noticed is that the overhead bins are a FAR reach for most people. It was noticeable how passengers were having difficulty. I wonder if they've changed that recently?

Dunno about that RK. Anything that prevents people from bringing in massive amounts of carry on luggage is ok with me. Alot of the flights that I have been on lately there are a lot of 'tards that have all they need for the trip on carry on. This is a pet peeve of mine. Not only do these selfish bastiges take up a lot of overhead space but they take forever farting around getting their luggage off and on.

 They probably did it on purpose, then. Give the jerks back problems....pet peeve solved!

Couldn't agree more...
The worst is when they eventually finish farting around, you see them at the carousel getting even more bags that they checked in... Why wouldn't you just check the lot in...

Rebound Delayed for Airbus?
The European planemaker thought it had nailed a big deal with Dubai carrier Emirates for the new A350, but Boeing is still in the running

Emirates, the fast-growing Dubai-based airline, has dealt a sharp disappointment to Airbus Industrie on the eve of the Paris Air Show. Airbus was widely expected to announce a major order from Emirates for the A350, a midsize jet that the European planemaker is launching to counter Boeing's (BA ) hot-selling 787 Dreamliner. Airbus sales chief John Leahy and Noël Forgeard, the former Airbus chief executive who's set to become co-CEO of its parent European Aeronautics Defence & Space Co., flew to Dubai last week in hopes of nailing down the deal.

But an Emirates spokesman now tells BusinessWeek that the carrier doesn't plan to announce any orders at the air show, which opens June 13. "Discussions are ongoing," he says -- not only with Airbus but also with Boeing, which is pitching the 787 as well a long-range version of its bigger 777 jet to Emirates.

My first of many trips to England, Sept 1997 on the 777. Can't believe it's been ten years already. Great airplane.
