(reuters) "Michelin teams have been
summoned to a hearing of Formula One's ruling body in Paris to
explain their part in the U.S. Grand Prix tyre fiasco.
In a statement on Monday FIA said the hearing would take
place on June 29.
Team chief Frank Williams told Reuters the teams had been
accused of performing "acts prejudicial to the interest of the
competition".
Tyre manufacturer Michelin were not summoned but could be
invited to appear with the teams; championship leaders Renault,
McLaren, Williams, Toyota, Sauber, Red Bull and BAR.
Honda-powered BAR already have a suspended sentence hanging
over them after being banned for two races earlier in the
season.
However a FIA spokesman said it would be inappropriate to
speculate ahead of the meeting about the possible implications
for BAR.
The seven pulled out before the start in Indianapolis on
Sunday because of safety concerns about their tyres."

This could get interesting....

I predict Bridgestone will be supplying many more Formula One tires in the near future. This whole situation is so stupid. All they have to do is bring a hard, bulletproof backup tire to each race. Then if the trick one's don't work, at least they can run.

I predict that if the FIA levies any sort of fine on the Michelin teams this season is over.

Give that man a cigar.

There is no reason to think Bernie and Max will be less heavyhanded than usual.
The seven teams and Michelin have already stood their ground at Findy.

Yesterday was the effectively the first shot fired in the war between FIA/F1 and GPWC.

The June 29 meeting will be a formal declaration of war, or a surrender.
But I'd bet on the former.

Exactly, and we all know how good splits are for the well being of auto racing.

I think I'm gonna have to take up golf.

Charlie Whiting reminded Pierre Dupasquier that the sporting code demands they do that.

I predict that if the FIA levies any sort of fine on the Michelin teams this season is over. Agreed. If Bernie and Max drop the hammer it will be over right then and there.

It's a shame, as this was shaping up to be one of the better seasons in a long time, and still could be.

ocSo true, on both counts.

Bernie and Max and whomever need to take a close look at AOWR before the 29th. A REAL close look.

Not wishing a split, but there is a difference here.

TG "fixed" something that was not broken.

F1 is totally screwed up and someone better fix it.
