I've heard anywhere from 1/5 to 1/4 were Philip Morris comps, with another several thousand sent out to local businesses to give away to anyone with a pulse. I had 4 different people offer me tickets this year.

Looks like lots of "elbow room" for everyone. Given the typical size of their fans, I wonder why the IRL doesn't push that angle more ...

Went with a friend who had tickets and had a decent time.
Not a bad crowd, but plenty of seats left.

The free tickets. An old client of mine was a fairly successfuly Busch Series team sponsor, but they killed that program a couple years ago. Despite having no current ties to the track, they got offered several hundred comps and use of a VIP suite, which is more than they got when they sponsored a team.
I'm still trying to find someone with a paid attendance figure.
