Next session - IndyCar Series Practice :: July 2 :: 9 a.m. (EDT)

Please feel free to start the thread.

Tomorrow morning I'll still be busy mixing ether, MEK, and castor oil with unleaded to keep the old McCollough running strong enough to finish cleaning up last night's storm damage in the neighborhood.

BTW, it's an ancient 50s 5.4 ci McCollough with a 20" bar. It scares the dogs, fascinates the children, and makes the neighbors request that I start working after 8 am.

I'm possibly the last guy in Ohio running a saw with a condenser and points. :)

Jayski (http://www.jayski.com) is reporting the following....

A.J. Foyt IV to NASCAR for Evernham? IndyCar Series [IRL] regular A.J. Foyt IV, grandson of A.J. Foyt, recently tested an ARCA car for Evernham Motorsports and might be in the team's plans for the future. "A.J. was very fast in the car, and we were very impressed with him," team owner Ray Evernham said. "He's probably going to run some Busch races for us later this year, and we'll do some further testing." The 21-year-old Foyt is in his third IndyCar season, but hasn't finished higher than ninth. "The kid's been struggling a little bit in the IRL," Evernham said. "He has a lot of people who believe in him. Who knows what's going to happen in the IRL shuffle? But he could be a guy who ends up in my driver-development program."

You know that if IV ends up in NASCAR, Gramps is going to want to be involved, and I picture Ray Evernham getting smacked with a sammich the first time IV drops out of a race.

Oh, and "struggling a little bit?" Master of the understatement there.

(White line talk, anyone?)

Don't ask me. I just run the Live T&S in the background to grab the results.

Who did what and was the officiating honest about it?

By the way, I think it is very appropriate that IRL drivers get penalized for diving under the white line. After all, their boss did, too. ;)

200 laps, 300 miles and all but one car running is on the lead lap?
That isn't a race it is a high speed traffic jam.

Is Scott Dixon's career slowly vanishing before his eyes ? As well as ours ?

Does Cheep even care about the .1rl any longer ? Does he actually attend any of these dronefests any more, except for maybe the irl500 ?

And what about Manning and Briscoe ? Certainly both are capable road racers and they are twirling as well....

TCGR in Open wheel certainly aint what it used to be....

Who said Dixon ever had a career? He's just waiting till Frank gets that Repco deal and he's in like Flynn. He's gonna be bangin' wheels with Herr Schumi and Freddy because he's that good, like Brisco good :gomer:

Rawhore didnt even make it to Danicafest Kansas City Style. We can only hope with the help of racial profileing, some Greek Custom's agent is getting, uhm, "Mid-evil on his ass" :)

Yeah, yeah, you're all famous, or infamous or whatever, but those of you doom and gloom-wishing fans better stick to criticism of the the nuts and bolts of the series framework and the "vision" because the race itself will do nothing to further your wishes. In that regard it disappointed me too, but it was fast, close, safe and exciting. Now, I enjoyed the Star Mazda race from Atlanta aired earlier on Speed more, but, see, that was ME! As far as cookie cutters go I think Kansas is the best. The stands, though not full, will be viewed as a very good gate, WAY better than Phoenix or certainly Milwaukee. No, this one HELPS the League, I think it encourages a prolonging of the pain and I can only hope that manufacturer defections can accomplish what a lot of us here try to do with simple unproductive and often baseless mean-spirited criticism. Up with ChampCar!

From what I saw it looked really boring. Nice managed finish by AGR, going side-by-side so no one could pass. Reminds me of left-lane bandits on the freeway, not very exciting.

Now, I enjoyed the Star Mazda race from Atlanta aired earlier on Speed more,
That was a good race. I'm gonna have to watch for more Star Mazda broadcasts this year.

NASCAR ticket package to the rescue. Lot's of NASCAR fans here in Kansas, and it seems all of them are trying to give away the IRL tickets. I've had to turn down multiple sets. There were more people there for the NASCAR truck race than there were for earl.

After 200 laps the 18 of 22 are still on the lead lap and only 1 of the remaining 4 is still on the track. No matter how slow the car nor how inept the driver everybody is in a 25 second clump of traffic. That is not a race, that is freeway traffic going in a circle.

Steve, you object to "Team Strategy?" :D You expected maybe they'd fall in line to give the guy in 3rd a sporting chance? I don't think so. I see and appreciate all the points you guys are making, I'm just of the opinion that this was NOT one of your average FTG disasters, in fact it probably helped them along a little. To WHAT, I don't know. As far as being no fun?...I guess I'll have to work on that! :)
