Won't stop the speculators from raising the price of crude, especially with the Middle East about to explode. :saywhat:

Prices continue to drop.
Sun $ 3.93/gal
Mon $ 3.83/gal
Tues $ 3.77/gal
Black Friday clearance sale? :p
We've held steady @ $3.59 this week. Surprising since they usually jack up the prices around holidays.

According to the news here at the real Island of Misfit Toys (that being central FL), gas jumped 0.15/gal overnight.

I just filled up and it was $3.47 for Shell regular.
First fill up yesterday in the new ride (Flex Fuel). Paid $2.88 after store discount for E85.

...continuing to fall. Today's price is $3.67/gal.
Down more than $1.00 from the high back in early October.
We've dropped into the $3.30s. Idiot fact...I filled up the Bimmer before I traded it in. $50+ for ~15 gallons of 89. :saywhat: @ least I had a full tank when I left Carmax. :)
-Kevin
Saw a station today @ $2.98 on the way into downtown.
-Kevin
Overnight jump to $3.88/gal.
Same thing happened around this time last year, and it leveled off above $4 around May. Wonder if the pattern will repeat, or if prices will be higher?

Article in the LA Times on Friday about how these prices are manipulated in CA. Super soup just jumped to $4.19. Regular is $3.99.

That said, the mileage isn't nearly as bad as I expected.

Prolly about the same as the Explorer, which averages ~15mpg. Of course most of the times I've driven it in the past, half the house is going somewhere. :saywhat: OTOH, I'm loving life buying E85 with the Focus. :p
EDIT: when I drove the Bimmer to OCNJ a few years ago, I averaged ~30mpg there, but when I hauled back a ton of the crap that was taken there, I lost ~5mpg if not more. :saywhat:

I saw $3.85 locally yesterday, $3.73 nearby. E85 is looking better and better.
-Kevin
Yesterday it jumped up 18 cents to $4.23/gal.
Oil is only $92/barrel, so I assume it's the switch over to the summer blend that is causing the spike. But, who knows? I am surprised the economy has been able to absorb the high prices for so long.

The claim this time is switch to summer grade and scheduled refinery maintenance/shutdowns. :saywhat:

I just commented to TravelMom that the regular gas is $.70 a gallon cheaper here in FL than in CA. It's not only the corporations we subsidizing.

Because high gas prices are a ticket to unemployment if you're a politician. Of course now if we don't want to support the price gouging we have the option of buying massively subsidized cars that run on butterfly farts and wishful thinking.

paid $3.12 today (with 3 cent discount)
Thankfully I use E85 in the Focus, so it was $3.49 when I filled up tonight ($3.29 after $.20 discount). BTW, the claims that E85 results in better MPG is BS. I got better milage in the Bimmer with a higher HP engine (and chipped). 17mpg vs. 21mpg in the city. The Bimmer also got about 30mpg on the highway, but I haven't taken the Focus on a long haul yet to see what the highway MPG is. :saywhat:
-Kevin
E85 is supposed to reduce carbon emissions not necessarily improve mpg, right?
E85 is supposed to reduce carbon emissions not necessarily improve mpg, right?
Could be. I thought I had read somewhere that it was to improve mpg, but that appears not to be the case. I wasn't looking for a FF vehicle, it just happened that the one Carmax had with all the bells and whistles (and low miles) just happened to be FF.

E85 produces significantly less power too; you need to put a tank of pure gasoline in there, compare MPG, and do the math. You'll get 25% better mileage without the corn. AND you won't be starving people / driving up the price of food globally.

I have on a couple occasions since E85 stations aren't widely available. It wasn't significantly better. Might have been in the 19-20mpg range. Bimmer was in the 23mpg range city, but it also used 89. Ethanol production isn't going to drop unless Uncle Sam changes the rules. Ain't gonna happen.

Doesn't mean you should contribute to the cause!
Dude if you're getting 19 in a Focus, something else is wrong.
According to the internet a 2012 Focus should get 19/26 mpg on E85, or 26/36 on regular gas. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/32301.shtml
I didn't realize the difference was so big. As for why it would only get 19 mpg on regular gas, I don't know. Could someone be siphoning gas from your tank? ;)

E85 is capable of producing about 70% as much energy as the same amount of gasoline, but only costs 15% less.

Or ignore the politics (because both sides subsidize b.s. as well as good things) and just drive more efficient cars.
Spotted yesterday on the NW side @ $3.31 for 87. In two weeks it's gone from $3.79 to the $3.30 range. There were reports last week of stations @ $2.99, but those were the exception and not the rule. I was also surprised that the NW side was actually lower than other areas that have been much lower in the past. I also heard on the local news the other day that the price had 'dropped' to $4.18 in Chitown. $10 and my left nut it's back to $3.50 here by the end of the weekend ahead of the 4th. :irked:

I don't know what this says about me, but despite the fact that I'm far from wealthy and drive cars that don't exactly get stellar mpg, my give-o-crap meter only registers in about 50¢ increments. I wouldn't drive around the block to save maybe $1-2 on a fillup, let alone halfway across town.
Of course, that might me why I'm far from wealthy...

$3.56/gal and oil's down to $91/bbl.
For the past two years the price has bottomed out around $3.50/gal around Christmas and then increased by $0.70/gal by March 1st. Wonder if it will follow the same pattern this year?
A week ago I paid $2.799/gal at a Clark station in Toledo. Across the street a BP station was $.50/gal higher. On Wed. I paid $2.999/gal is beautiful NW Indiana.

Oil is back up to $99/barrel, so gas prices should go back up soon.
Looks like $3.56/gal was the bottom. Same as the last two years.
Wed afternoon $2.899 in beautiful NW Indiana.
The BP refinery in Whiting IN just finished a huge upgrade, hopefully this will result in more gas production and lower price at the pump.

$2.69 in mid-Missouri.
We're at $3.19 now. That's up $.20 from two weeks ago. Please note that the price of crude has dropped to the upper $80s the past several weeks. Enough so that it has caused OPEC to be alarmed at the price drop. I've read several articles with comments from the Saudis, etc. about OPEC's concern over the situation. Most recently the Venezuelans are blaming the US for the price decrease. :saywhat: :shakehead:
