There was an article in the Snooze here about 6 months ago about how players around here have been selling their houses as they've been forced to play in smaller leagues to put food on the table. Really tugging at my heartstrings here, considering most NHL teams play in working class cities, where the cost of a night out at a game for a family of four is a good part of a paycheck. :shakehead

You negative Nellies can say what you want. MLB is long, boring , lame, and has about 125 too many games a year. NBA is a game of time clock management and and 'giving' penalties. NFL and NHL is where my excitement comes, and I wouldnt wish a lockout full-season on a fan of ANY sport. For those not fans, Its hard to explain how sucky and empty the feeling is.

Anyone who says they are "no longer a hockey fan" after the strike clearly wasnt really one beforehand.

Im totally pumped, and not only am I still a fan, but probably more thanm ever now that I had the 'dont know whatcha got til its gone' feeling.

The next 6 weeks or so are gonna be fast & furious....draft, free agency, new rules announced, etc. Not sure about the lottery weighting...3 balls for the lowest four teams over the past four seasons vs. 2 for the next tier, and 1 for the elite teams (can you say Phlyers?). $100 NYR gets the frozen envelope to draft Crosby. :( Oh well. Glad to have the sport back. However, the owners are gonna hafta suck up to me to get me to renew my season ticket beyond next season.

i wasn't necisserily pro player but anti owner simply because it was them who threw the whole economics out of whack. the owners are the ones offering these players way more than they were worth then claim that the players want too much money. the owners are the ones who claim that the players take too much of the revenues then not claim all revenues generated by hockey in their hockey numbers.

i'm glad for the resumption of hockey, being only one of 2 known hockey fans in kentucky, but i'm really upset that the owners fed misinformation to the media to get the deal done. :thumdown:

I can say unequivocally that I've watch my last NHL game. :thumdown: Of course, being a now "former" Blackhawks fan, I haven't seen a real NHL game in about 10 years. :gomer:

We have a great UHL team just outside of St. Louis. Its pretty good hockey, cheap, and family friendly. I'll continue to support my River Otters. :thumbup:

There is revenue sharing - the 10 best revenue teams put money into a pool for the bottom 15 teams
if revenues work up during the length of the CBA, then the % of that revenue that goes to players will also increase up to a max of 57%
its an unbalanced schedule. So teams will mostly play their conference.

I'm hearing that most won't. Toronto won't for sure, doubtful detroit will. The smaller teams will.... but then again, most small teams were doing deals to get people in anyways... I paid less than half price for 2 tickets in the lower bowl to see the Leafs in Atlanta back in 2000....

The teams with high demand for the past half century won't dare cut prices. That should include the Avs, Wild, Wings, Leafs, Canadiens, etc. Teams like @lanta, Florida, Nashville, etc. are gonna find it hard to get the fans back. Douger MacLean mentioned other things they could do to get the fans back....what more frickin' t-shirts? Gimme a break! They've had my $$$ for 18 mos., paying a small amount of interest (very low % now that the Feds have raised rates ~8 times in a row :( ). Oh well, as long as the CBJs get dat fozen envelope to draft Crosby, all will be well and good. :)

• Deadline to sign 2003 draft picks (if not signed, 2003 draftees will re-enter the 2005 draft)
• Deadline to make required bona fide offers to 2004 draft picks

Friday, July 29
• Deadline for initiating compliance buyouts

Saturday, July 30
• Entry draft

Sunday, July 31
• Deadline to extend qualifying offers

Monday, Aug. 1
• Free-agent signing period begins

Also interesting to note that the final CBA is still be crafted, and it should be complete by 7/21.
