The return of the jump?
16 min: Typical of street circuits, most of the drivers are trying to come to grips with the bumps around this downtown course. Vasser: "I'm getting big air over those railroad tracks on the back and crashing back down hard. We need to look at the bottom of the car and see how hard we're hitting."
I'm surprised, over 20 minutes into the session and nobody has found a wall or stalled in a runoff yet.
At least there seems to BE a runoff...at 8, anyway!
'28 min RED FLAG Paul Tracy and Timo Glock went into the runoff at Turn 8. Glock continued but Tracy has stalled'
Guess I jinxed it. :o
'31 min Due to the brevity of the session, no Red Flag stoppage penalties will be assessed. '
Nice call by race control.
No red flag penalties...ChampCar thinking on their feet! Good show!

Maximum speed I've seen so far has been Tracy @ 179 mph on the front straight.
"...pretty significant bumps."...perhaps a call should be sent for Robby Gordon?
Whoa...6 guys in the 54s, now...what's it take for a 100mph+ lap? What's the final lap distance?
OK, Bourdais 53.9=96.6...Too slow...
Gee, Bourdais and Tracy 1st into the 53s...go figure. 12 in 54s and under...nice, now is 100mph attainable?
RHR in 5th. Other then that no surprises at the top of the chart. I hope RuSport can kick it up a notch in the next session.
Nice, see you at 5:05 local, and I hope the track doesn't blow this thing up in our faces...I didn't like it from the get-go! (bets on pole winning the race?)
Here is something unusual:
'Nelson Philippe posts the quickest time of the weekend so far.'
And 13 guys in the 53s now...keep pushing! Servia on top...for now :)
Tracy to the 52s...and Bourdais off for the 3rd time at 8...is that the only place they can actually try to "brave out" a quick lap and get away with it if it doesn't work?
Wilson 17th, AJ 16th...hmmmm.
Holy Cr...Philippe to P1 again, 98.6mph...getting closer!

With 17 minutes to go, Nelson P. on top with a 52.868.
That's NERVOUS laughter, right? :D

I'm afraid its a sign of the apocalypse. ;)
Hope there is a good camera position at turn 8.
Cosworth> >29 min : Oriol Servia(#2) improved to 1st with a time of 52.655s (98.999mph).

With 5 minutes left, everybody has left the track. Bonzai runs coming up?

One too many for Lavin
'42 min RED FLAG Rodolfo Lavin, returning to the Champ Car World Series with the HVM team, is in the tire wall at Turn 4. He's ok and the car has minor damage, but that will end the session. '
Bourdais, Servia, Glock, Philippe, tracy and Tagliani all in the 52s...Today 99mph, tomorrow 100! :) ..who was it that didn't want to drive for N/H? They must be headed to A1.
Top Five
Bourdais
Servia
Glock
Philippe
Tracy
Should be a great round of qualifying tomorrow.
