"Tracy eyes NASCAR: Canadian Paul Tracy, winner of the 2003 Champ Car title, has made no secret that he would like to race a NASCAR Nextel Cup car one day.
Well, word is that Tracy might just get his wish Aug. 21 at MIS in the GFS Marketplace 400.
His team? Richard Childress Racing. His car? A Chevrolet.
Tracy, who drives for Forsythe Championship Racing, will compete Sunday in the San Jose Grand Prix in California. He is currently second in series points to Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais."

I was hoping it would be at Watkins Glen. Good thing it's not at Bristol.;)

Can you imagine Paul Tracy and Kevin Harvick on the same team? They'll be lucky to get the cars out of the haulers in one piece!! Those two will kill each other.
I think Childress could have trademarked the slanted 3. Kind of strange seeing 3's on the silver and black again.

I think Childress could have trademarked the slanted 3. Kind of strange seeing 3's on the silver and black again.
Think DEI might have the trademark to the slanted 3. Remember something about the slanted three with regards to the movie "3" and how they had to slant it the other way for promotional purposes and the movie title.
From Jayski
"Why is the '3' different in the movie promos: NASCAR fans might have noticed something odd about ESPN's made-for-television movie about Dale Earnhardt, currently being advertised in advance of its release next week. The movie trailers and promotional materials have the wrong slant -- for Earnhardt's trademark #3. In real life, Earnhardt's race car had a "3" that slanted to the left [meaning on the drive door and roof, really all the #3's slanted to the front of the car]. Because the movie is intended to be an "actual dramatic recreation," producers were able to use replicas of Earnhardt's number for the film without infringing on the copyright, says ESPN spokesman Rob Tobias. But producers had to alter the "3" in materials used to promote the unauthorized biography, Tobias says. So, for the trailer they slanted the 3 to the right, and colored it a solid red, instead of the true-to-life Earnhardt "3" that was white with a red outline. "We went to great pains to paint this as accurate as possible," Tobias said. "Still, I'm sure fans will notice any and all differences."(Charlotte Observer)(12-6-2004)"

No Tracy in NASCAR this year.
The Paul Tracy experiment in NASCAR is on hold, according to team owner Richard Childress.
Childress, who tested the Champ Car driver in August, is focused on helping Nextel Cup driver Kevin Harvick win the $1 million bonus for finishing 11th (his current position) and Clint Bowyer win his first Busch Series title.
Bowyer is 49 points behind Martin Truex Jr. following Saturday's United Way 300 at Kansas. Childress said he would rather give Bowyer -- and not Tracy -- a chance in a Cup race before the season ends. "I think he's ready," he said

*sings* Money Money Money! MONEY! *Dances*
According to this piece (http://www.torontosun.com/Sports/OtherSports/2005/11/20/1314854-sun.html), Tracy is still interested in doing up to five NASCAR events next year. On this morning's sportscast, TSN showed PT wandering around the Homestead pits/paddock. He even stopped to speak with Roger Penske. Reminiscing about the good old days?
Ted
It would be great to see Paul race a Cup car.
