NO SECRETS . . .
Item from nascar.com's Busch Series website:
BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Chip Ganassi Racing crew chief Brian Pattie was escorted from the NASCAR Busch Series garage area Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway after NASCAR officials determined the No. 41 team had applied illegal substances to its tires.
Team tire specialist Brandon Stafford was also ejected. Pattie also will not be allowed to serve as crew chief for Friday's Food City 250.
"There is potential to pick up some speed when the tires are altered," said NASCAR Busch Series director Joe Balash. "The regulations are that there are no substances to be on the tires."
When informed of the preceding developments over breakfast this morning, a well-known Champ Car team boss smiled knowingly and said "Simple Green." "How's that?" we asked.
"Sure, when you swab tires with Simple Green it gives them three or four more laps of peak performance."
"So you've heard," we replied with a knowing wink.
"No, we've tried it," he replied earnestly. "It works. Last year we got wind that another team might have been using Simple Green on its tires to enhance performance. So we tried it at a test one day. It works . . ."
interesting.
i'm going to put simple green on my car now :gomer:
