CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- NBC won't extend its contract with NASCAR beyond the 2006 season, a person involved in the negotiations told The Associated Press on Friday.

ABC/ESPN are expected to replace NBC as one of NASCAR's television partners, according to a television executive who declined to be identified because the deal wasn't complete.

Oh man not Friggin ABC/ESPN and all their spoiler bottom lines and ABC sports inserts. I know some people hate them, but Fox should do the whole season.

Jayski's reporting that the I's have been dotted and T's crossed, and ABC/ESPN will be broadcasting the 2nd half of the NASCAR season starting in 2007 and continuing through 2012.

Next dumb question...do the NBC announcers jump ship, or will fans be subjected to the dulcet tones of Todd Harris? ;)
