I live 15 minutes from a brand new NBA arena and I might catch a game or two if I get free tickets.
I'll drive 3 hours each way for a 10 game mini-plan for the NHL or to watch college bball.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
I am the best shooter in the world, period.

2 down 48 to go.
I have already seen my annual bb game. At the Nuggets home opener every year, they give away free lift tickets to Crested Butte.
Buy the cheapest tickets, get there early, profile and ask the old, crippled and fat for their free lift tickets. Get 16+ lift tickets. Buy beers. Watch a bit of basketball. Boo Kobe this year. Try to explain basketball to fiance every year. Leave at halftime. Drive home and think snow. :D
Repeat next year. Basketball is great... NOT. :gomer:

the louisville cardinals had a magical run last year. don't expect the same this year. we have a young team (7 freshmen i believe) and lost leaders fransisco garcia (nba, sacramento. btw, how's he doing so far?), larry o'bannon (grad) and ellis miles (grad) from that team. i'll say a sweet 16 year with this team with a big east tourney semifinal counts as a sucessful year for this team.
oh yeah, and destroying the kentucky mildcats AGAIN this year. :D

I'm not talking about that stuff. There isn't a lot of run-and-gun around here, and actually, the run-and-gun teams are the most fun to watch. The biggest problem is a complete lack of fundamentals, like shooting free throws. Kids will spend hours trying to learn new dunks, and then go out and shoot 50% from the free throw line. Hey kids, it's called a free throw for a reason. :shakehead

the biggest college basketball rivalry tips off in an hour 52 from now.
no, not dook-carolina. THE university of kentucky and uk. and quite frankly i have absolutely no idea how this is gonna play out. on one hand you have louisville undefeated against a cupcake sched admittedly going against the mildcats who have played a tough schedule and lost every one of those tough games but one (and i saw the highlights and they should have lost that one). the mildcats folded against indiana and looked pretty bad at the end against carolina. how great would it be if they lost three big games three weeks in a row?
if we won or if we lost, i wouldn't be surprised either way.
the real basketball is in the bluegrass, the rest of the world needs to realize this.

1. you can win when one player has a monster game.
2. you can win when you get outrebounded.
3. you can win when the point guard can drive and kick to the open man.
it's damn near hard to win when two of those things happened. yesterday all three things happened.
secondly, i won't say the refs cost us the game, but i will say they were intimidated. lessington is the center focus of the most xenophobic hate of everything louisville (not just university of, city of) and when you add in the fact that there were probably 20 or 30 louisville fans tops in a 22,000 seat arena, all of which were spewing hate none have seen since WW2 and raising so much of a noise that it disrupted the radio broadcast of the game, i wouldn't be to adverse to making any calls against the home team either.
but the two early calls in two minutes on padgett and the phantom foul on rondo at the end of the half were pure 100% grade A american BULL****. :flame: for perspective, we won the second half when padgett was in most of the time. losing david pretty much ended our game before it even started.
am i upset, yeah. i'm more mad at the refs for getting scared though. but the season goes on, it's just one game.
btw, the last few years, the team that has lost this game has gone farther in march than the other one.
i smell another final four.

how did the horns beat nova? i'm going to take notes and send them to pitino.
they have no size. they lived off the perimeter all day and were 7/31 from out there..
they played a trap which slowed down our game and then they'd settle into zone. When we'd feed it down low to PJ Tucker and Lamarcus Aldridge we'd get free points, they had no one that could compete with that height and size.
before Buckman went down they were absolutely dominated, then they went on quite a run but that shoddy 3 %'age screwed 'em in the end despite the fact they owned the boards on both ends for the most part.
if they had a good 3 %'age saturday we would've been screwed.

That was an incredible game yesterday. They played so poorly in the first half and the Cavaliers absolutely dominated in the 2nd. It was pretty to see. Also nice to hear the crowd, although I wish it were like Browns games where they would be loud when the team needs them to be, not just when the Cavs start doing well.
