If it does in fact happen when Newey's contract with McLaren end in January it would be a huge coup for Red Bull. Red Bull was not that far off the pace this season, thanks in large part to Cosworth. It would be a big surprise if the Ferrari V8 wasn't strong as well.

Newey's real impact won't be until '07. The '06 car is probably past the design phase. He can improve it, but not fundamentally change it at this point.

I think this will make Kimi's rumored move to Ferrari more likely.
