Effectively at war with the sport’s governing body since the USGP controversy, Michelin had long been critic of the FIA’s intention to introduce a single-tire supplier rule for the 2008 campaign. The company’s decision effectively means that that goal will be achieved one year earlier than the FIA expected.
I don't recall marbles being that big of a deal in F1, but I think a single supplier has helped ChmpCar quite a bit.
