Race Car Driver: The Complete First Season

Speedgear has it for $39.95. (http://www.speedgear.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=7608&category=0&SMID=91&SID=3&SCID=153&CID=0) I can't get WGN, so I never got to see any of it. So my question to those of you who did watch it is this: Is it worth 40 bucks?

I did think it was a good series. But $40? I don't know about that. On the other hand I've blown more $ on less enjoyable things.

Mmmm nah. It was ok, but not something you'll get much repeat viewing out of.

It depends on how much money you have.

It isn't a must have but it did give some insight into the personalities of a few people.

It's 6.5 hours of Champ Cars. One episode every week might help the off-season blahs. The episodes were not race recaps that chronicled each on track pass or all the race action. The last two episodes were especially skimpy on race coverage. Mainly, it was the teams reactions to incidents that involved their drivers. Lots of PT and Team Forsythe coverage.

Buy it. Watch it. Sell it on ebay.

$40 can be blown so easy these day's i'd say buy it. i blew $40 on the 50yrs of F1 dvd and it's only 60min., still worth it to me

i got the DVD's in the mail this week. the show isn't too far removed from a bronte-less dangerous curves.

some footage of the drivers hanging out/relaxing
+ footage of the team during the race weekend
+ a few snips of race footage

I hope so, but it would be neat if they followed another team. I'm pretty sure Forsythe had a lot to do with the show since there was an ad for Forsythe racing every week that I've never seen anywhere else.

How does it compare production and content-wise to, say, NBS 24/7 (since I don't have WGN, THAT is what I have to suffer through if I want a racing-based reality TV fix)?

I believe it's cheaper at Torontomotorsports.com, maybe $30 CAD? I think it's well worth it. Too bad there's all that bleeping, but whatchu gonna do??

How does it compare production and content-wise to, say, NBS 24/7 (since I don't have WGN, THAT is what I have to suffer through if I want a racing-based reality TV fix)?
Production-wise I think it holds up well. For content it was a mixture of drivers working with their teams and drivers off-track time (time at home, on the road, pre-race parties, Face of Champ Car judges, etc). I've never really watched NBS 24/7 so I can't directly compare.

Has anyone seen when season 2 will start?

According to the AMS Production Group's website, the next episode of "Champ Car Driver" (the new name for the show) will air on SPEED June 18. The "Turbo Tour" show that aired April 9 was the first episode of the season.
