LOS ANGELES (February 13, 2006) - Like an eager Valentine awaiting a bouquet of flowers, owners and participants in the Champ Car Atlantic Series Presented by Yokohama are anticipating the debut of the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic chassis and engine combination. On Tuesday, February 14 they, along with Champ Car fans, will be able to see the debut of the made-in-the-USA Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter, 300-horsepower Cosworth engine riding on Yokohama Racing Slicks live on www.champcar.ws
Both the Champ Car and Atlantic series official websites will host an exclusive webcast of the debut live from the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on Tuesday night at 10:30 p.m. ET. This will be the first public viewing of the next generation Atlantic Championship car that will then go to Firebird Raceway in Arizona for its first test.
"We are very excited to be able to bring this opportunity to our fans," said Champ Car President Steve Johnson. "Our website showcases the technology of Champ Car by bringing special events like Tuesday's debut directly to our fans."
In addition to some of the top rising stars of racing and legends of the sport like Jimmy Vasser and Bobby Rahal, several Hollywood celebrities are also expected to be in attendance for the invitation-only affair and several significant Champ Car and Atlantic series announcements are also planned for the evening.
www.champcar.ws is the official site of Champ Car and the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford. The site is also home to Race Director, Champ Car's online broadcast of each race that allows fans to direct the video feed from the event by using up to six different camera angles. Race Director also allows fans to see live telemetry from the pits and listen to driver's radio communication to their teams. It also allows fans to go into the archives and watch any Champ Car race from 2002 through 2005.
