Must have been a terrible stroke because he just passed away. The state of Minnesota will be in mouring tomorrow.

Sadly probably not. African Americans suffer much higher rates of stroke and heart disease.

As a Yankee fan I will forever thank Kirby for naming Don Mattingly "Donny Baseball" Perfect. Perfect appreciation of the game

Kirby may not have been the perfect gentleman off the field. Data is incomplete and unreliable, but trending badly. Time has not and may not be kind. But he approached the game, his opponents and teammates as I would have liked to.

Off the field matters, but so does on the field.

After reading more on his situation, this was more than likely due to his weight gain and related issues. More wondering aloud than anything based in fact. That beaning was one of the nastiest I've ever seen. There have been far worse historically, tho.

RIP, Kirby. You were taken far too young. I enjoyed your style of play in the 80s and 90s.

Apparently, his parents died young, and he had always told people he didn't take care of his body because he knew he'd die before he got to 50.

Sad day in Minnesota, that's for sure.

as a life time Twins fan, bye kirby, a career and life cut to short, but life time memories. who could forget announcer Bob Casey 's introduction “KIR-beeeeeeeeee PUCK-it.”
